This new build mixed use scheme on a new housing development in Chinley, High Peak , combines light industrial and studio units on the ground floor with a dwelling above. The ground floor units are designed to meet the AECB building standard whilst the dwelling meets the Passivhaus standard.
The built form reflects the previous industrial use of the site, referencing the simple north light roof forms that were typical of industrial buildings. The ground floor is is a traditional masonry structure faced in a local coursed gritstone whilst the first floor uses a timber I beam frame filled with cellulose insulation that has a render finish to closely match the colour of the stone.
